Taylor Guitars Releases Two Limited Koa Models Marking 52 Years

Taylor Guitars has introduced two limited-edition acoustic models featuring Hawaiian koa wood as part of its Legacy Collection. The Legacy K65e LTD 12-String Jumbo and Custom Legacy K10 LTD Dreadnought are each restricted to 52 units, a production figure that honors the company's 52nd year of operation.

The decision to incorporate koa into the Legacy Collection marks a notable addition to Taylor's signature lineup. Hawaiian koa has long held appeal among collectors and players for its tonal properties and distinctive visual character. The 12-string configuration of the K65e LTD represents a particular draw for musicians seeking the instrument's characteristic chorus effect, while the dreadnought body of the Custom Legacy K10 LTD caters to those preferring the traditional concert-hall footprint.

Taylor Guitars, based in El Cajon, California, has positioned these models as collector-grade offerings within its broader acoustic guitar portfolio. The numbered limitation to 52 units per model creates inherent scarcity within the marketplace, a familiar strategy among guitar manufacturers seeking to establish secondary market demand and underscore the significance of milestone anniversaries.

The specific technical specifications and pricing for both models were not disclosed in the announcement. Collectors and enthusiasts seeking details on wood grading, hardware components, or finish options will need to consult Taylor's direct channels or authorized retailers for additional information.

Limited-edition releases tied to company anniversaries have become standard practice across the acoustic guitar industry, with builders regularly using milestone years to justify restricted production runs and premium positioning. The Hawaiian koa selection distinguishes these models from Taylor's standard Legacy Collection offerings, which typically feature more conventional tonewoods.
